National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Exam Information, Study Guide and Flash Cards
National Board for certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), which administers the certification of Occupational Therapists, is accredited by the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA)
The activities of orthopedic technicians are governed by the National Association of Orthopedic Technicians (NAOT) formed in 1982.
Exam Eligibility
- Applicants must be willing to agree to adhere to set standards of the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct.
- Applicants must first complete clinical fieldwork and then pass the COTA or OTR national certification exam.
- Candidates with OTR certification must also possess a post-baccalaureate degree from any accredited higher education program of Occupational Therapy.

- Interested candidates should visit the NBCOT website at www.nbcot.org for registration details.

Exam Details
- The exam questions are in the multiple –choice format.
- The exam consists of a total of 200 questions.
- Thirty of the set questions are pretest questions and do not add to the final score.
- Only 170 questions are actually used to calculate the final exam results.

- Evaluation of needs and priorities
- Developing Intervention Plans
- Implementing Interventions
- Providing OT services for the occupational performance needs or the population, and Managing
- Promoting and Organizing OT
